The Association gathers plastic converters with a sales potential exceeding PLN 5 billion. Its members employ in total approx. 8,000 people. The Association represents our interests towards the Lewiatan Confederation, the European Plastics Converters Association (EuPC) and state administration bodies.
Plastics have been one of the most efficient materials currently used for economy and business – their production consumes only 4% of the world’s crude oil deposits. Application of plastics brings about material savings in crude oil, as well as it reduces significantly the emission of CO2. Each 100 kg of car parts made of plastics decrease the consumption of crude oil by 12 million tonnes each year, thus reducing the emission of CO2 by 30 million tonnes.
Without the application of plastics, the packaging would be four times heavier. It would, in turn, lead to a significant increase in crude oil consumption and CO2 emission caused by the necessity to transport much heavier loads. The plastics used for food packaging contributed to the reduction of losses connected with the storage and transportation of food. Thanks to the implementation of the latest solutions in plastics packaging, food remains fresh for a longer period of time, even without any preservatives.
Plastics play a key role in healing and rescuing human lives. To begin with syringes and to finish with cutting-edge technologies, the plastics are widely used in medicine. Without them it would be not possible to store blood, and that is something indispensable in the modern medicine.
Numerous products made of plastics may be applied in the construction industry and contribute to a considerable improvement in thermal insulation of buildings. Plastics offer also multiple opportunities not only to limit the cost of house maintenance and the CO2 emission, but are also one of the key materials in reaching a technology of a house of the future – a house with zero energy consumption.
Plastics prove a perfect material for recycling. There is a multitude of applications for secondary raw materials in plastics products. The highly valued secondary materials from the recycled PET bottles are later used, for instance, as a material for producing popular sportswear, namely the fleece, as well as for PET film production. Recycled plastics are applied also in the production of terrace boards, panels, insulation films and even entire bridge structures.
